Acclaimed Photographer Chelsea Fernando created the Cherosi brand as a way to give voice to her inner fashionista. Since childhood, Chelsea has had an interest in fashion and fashion photography. Coming from a small third world country, she started off her fashion journey learning how to knit in preschool. In her teens she would focus on altering large clothes to fit her small frame using hand sewing methods. She later went of to teach herself how to design and create clothing pieces from scratch after becoming tired of not being able to find the perfectly designed yet affordable pieces she now carries.

Before falling into fashion design, sourcing, and selling - Chelsea spent a large number of her late teens working as a fashion stylist as well as creative designing and styling her fashion photoshoots. She created created fashion campaigns for brands both big and small, shot from e-commerce to avant-guarde, partnered with big name photographers to provide fresh eyes and a younger perspective, and was invited as lead stylist for a well-known brand at the NYC fashion show.

Now, with her own label, Chelsea takes inspiration from her childhood and experiences, modern trends, and classic style, to create what we see as the brand Cherosi today. She creates her own designs and patterns, refining every detail, while juggling her photography career as well as massage business. For several years, John has been a passionate fabric collector. With a meditative approach, she often spends several days focusing purely on fabric selection.

Chelsea believes that fashion should be sincere because it’s rooted in self-expression. Fashion is about putting something together, and defining and transporting yourself. It’s about being bold and discreet at the same time. Above all, it’s about focusing on what you want and not worrying about what others expect you to be.
